In my personal opinion, it's a much healthier option!  The amount of chemicals found in the other types of home and personal fragrance products is criminal.  It honestly had me shaken to the core to discover what I was putting into the air my children breathe at home.  Also, I never imagined what happens when we burn a candle!

Did you know there is really no such thing as a non-toxic candle?  I had no idea either!!!  I was SHOCKED to hear that.

I am a mom of 3 wonderful children who mean the world to me so of course, health and safety are of top priority in anything that I purchase or expose my kids to.

My heart fell when I began to research the dangers of popular home and personal fragrance products.  I'm going to get into all of the wonderful benefits of Scentsy in a moment, I just wish to inform you on some of the important facts I had found when searching for the truth on what goes into the standard fragrance products I and many who I know use.

1)  Harmful VOC's!!!  "volatile organic compounds"... now, I have noticed that in many cases people look at the acronym VOC and instantly relate it to chemicals/toxic air pollution.  This is not completely accurate!  The truth is that you will find VOC's in many ways naturally such as a bouquet of flowers or the aroma from cooking certain foods.  What is a calming relief when it comes to Scentsy products, is that they do not contain or release any harmful VOC's.
Scentsy products are formulated and tested to comply with EPA regulations, the international fragrance associations code of practice and the California air resources board regulations - all of which restrict the use of fragrance products that pose a risk to health and the environment.

2)  The other big concern for health and safety in fragrance products I was reading about are formaldehydes.  Scentsy wax and fragrances are formaldehyde free!  This is not true for all paraffin wax products however, scentsy is combustion free!  Formaldehydes in wax are a result of the act of combustion.  Scentsy wax is food grade paraffin wax and has no wick.

3)  An excellent point regarding those with concerns to sensitivity, allergies etc, is that when using a fragrance product it is important to only follow the intended use of the product.  For example, Scentsy wax bars are for home fragrance through the use of a warmer not intended for your skin - some of our bars contain a high quantity of essential oils that could likely irritate your skin if you tried to turn it into a personal fragrance products.

So, taking all of this into consideration:
Here's the craziest part (to me) - we pay more for the stuff that's damaging our health than what you would pay with Scentsy.
Did you read that properly?  Yes, I'm serious, this is not like every other healthier option for something out there where it breaks the bank.  It's sad to know that people are sometimes aware of the health risks they take when making purchases for things like food because the healthier/organic choices cost a whole lot more.  Maybe to some people it's not a matter of not knowing, it's a matter of not being able to afford the healthier option; now my opinion on that topic is a whole other blog entirely but the plus side to this blog is that in this case, the healthier option is actually the more cost effective alternative.

Here's an example of a price comparison:

Isn't this kind of nuts?  I mean, why on earth would you chose to purchase a toxic, chemical filled candle when you can purchase a scentsy bar for far less that is completely non-toxic, chemical free and has the exact same melting time?!
Now, I don't want to mislead you if your reading this and learning about scentsy for the first time.  You don't just purchase a $6 wax bar and your good to go.  It is a wickless candle but it's not magic.  You will need to select a warmer for it that will be used to melt the wax and send the fragrance into the air.

When selecting your warmer you will have a number of different options.  You can either select a plug in style with a scentsy nightlight warmer, or a "table top" warmer which come in a variety of options.
table top warmer, shade warmer, scentsy, scentsy warmers, wax warmers, safe paraffin wax, gluten free, chemical free, safe fragrancePrices range from $24.  Now the "up" side to this is that you only need to purchase a warmer once!!!  After that you just need your wax so going forward whenever your wickless candle runs out of fragrance you will only need to purchase another $6 wax bar where as with a candle you would need to make an entire purchase again of $20+ every single time.
